From the world - through a lens - to you

Self Portrait - Seattle Library, Main Branch

About ten years ago I was given an inexpensive Nikon digital camera as a gift. I started taking this camera out with me to local parks and places in Seattle that often go ignored. I was shooting photos again for the first time in about eight years. The digital format gave me an opportunity to capture some of the beautiful moments I found in my city for free. As a barista at the time I did not have a lot of expendable income; but this camera meant that I could shoot as much as I wanted without the cost of developing film or worrying about the cost of a shot that didn't turn out.

This new camera rekindled me to expand my work and focus on the images that I was producing. I set myself several projects over the years to study photography and change the ways in which I looked at and shared images with others. I took the opportunity to learn from other photographers work and methods and find my own narrative voice. Since those earlier days, I have upgraded to a Nikon D40 and added new lenses and software. The additions allow me to make any minor corrections needed and really push the image to a fully finished product. I enjoy emphasizing color and visual lines along with a simple composition to allow the image's subject to speak for itself directly; whether that be an interesting color, texture, or visual topic.

Over the years I have taken thousands of photos of the places and objects I have found. I am highlighting my favorites on my site and using new tools to really bring them into completed works.  I hope I am able to convey to you the sense of the wonderful in the everyday.  I am humbled by anyone who values my work. I hope you enjoyed my photos and spending some time seeing through my eyes!

Thank you!
